Job template field reference

This article describes the fields available when creating or editing a job template.
Job details
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| a. Template name | The name you’ll see when selecting the template (e.g., 1040 Return). |
| b. Job name | The name displayed on job cards in a pipeline. Use shortcodes to add dynamic data—such as the account name or due date—to make jobs easily identifiable. |
| d. Priority | The priority level for the job: Low, Medium, High, or Urgent. |
| e. Description | Supports text formatting, emojis, bullets, numbered lists, links, and shortcodes. Shortcodes add dynamic data to automatically populate specific information in the job description. |
Shortcodes for job names and descriptions
You can include dynamic data in a job’s name, job’s name for a client, or description by selecting from these shortcodes:
- Account name — The account the job is for.
- Account custom field — Any custom account field .
- Date shortcodes — Any date, such as a due date set in the job template.
- Pipeline periodicity — The job’s schedule settings in the selected pipeline.
- Priority — The priority set in the job template.
Here are some examples of job names with shortcodes and how they appear:

Scheduling
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| c. Time budget | The time allocated to completing the job . Available only to firm owners, admins, and team members with the Manage time budget access right . |
| g. Start date | The date when the assigned team member should start working on the job. Not the same as the job creation date. The job is not visible in the calendar view unless start and/or due dates are set. Relative (default): a period of time after the job is created. Absolute: toggle on to set a specific date from the calendar. |
| h. Due date | The date by which the job must be completed, calculated from the start date. Affects the color of the counters on the job card and the calendar view. Relative (default): a period after the start date; if no start date is set, calculated from the creation date. Max 10,000 units (days/months/years). Absolute: toggle on to set a specific date. |
| i. Intake and internal deadline | Intake date: The default date for when you receive the client’s documents. Internal deadline: The default internal completion target. Both are optional and independent from start and due dates. More on tracking document intake and internal deadlines . |
Team
| Field | Description |

| f. Assignees | One or more job assignees. Select Team members by name, or select Roles—when the job is created from the template, all team members assigned to the relevant roles in the client account are allocated to the job. |
| j. Client-facing status | Toggle Show in the client portal to set a job status visible to clients when the job is added to a pipeline. More on client-facing statuses . |

| k. Add | Click to add a comment or wiki page to the template. |
| l. Comments | Useful notes for team members—for example, details they need to know to complete the job. Enable by clicking Add first. |
| m. Wiki pages | Internal instructions for team members suited to this kind of job. Enable by clicking Add first. |
| n. Save & exit / Save / Cancel | Click Save & exit to save the template and return to the list, Save to save without leaving, or Cancel to discard changes. |
