Onboarding: Set up your TaxDome account as a firm owner

When you are the firm owner, your portal differs slightly from the others. You need to configure particular settings on the firm level, such as adding a payment method, select a subscription plan, add licences for team members, set up integrations, and more. Here, you will learn how to set up as a firm owner – from your personal account to the most essential firm-wide configurations.

Customize your firm account

First, let's make some changes to your TaxDome firm. This will enhance your brand identity and improve client experience.

  • Add your firm contact info: Your contact information will be displayed on the client login page, the client portal homepage and emails sent from TaxDome to your clients.
  • Customize the portal login page: Decide which information you want to show your clients when they log into the portal. It can be a firm description, social media links, a company logo, your photo and a website link.
  • White-label the firm URL and website: In TaxDome, you can set up a custom domain for your firm and integrate portal login page to your website. This allows your firm to establish its unique identity.

Secure your portal

You can set up two-factor authentication to protect your and your clients' data from unauthorized access. As a firm owner, you have several ways to do it:

Configure account settings

Just like any team member, you can configure your own profile to manage your personal settings and adjust how team members and clients see you:

  • Change language settings: If your primary language is different from the one that is automatically retrieved from your browser, you can adjust the language settings just for yourself.
  • Upload your photo: Your profile picture will be visible to the colleagues and clients you communicate with.
  • Sync your email: Sync your email to TaxDome and keep all email communication with clients within the portal without switching tabs. Due to this, you will also be able to have all documents sent by clients automatically saved in their account.
  • Configure the notification preferences: To keep you up-to-date on important events, TaxDome sends automatic notifications to your login email and Inbox+. You can choose to monitor everything or turn off some notifications to avoid extra noise.

Set up integrations

Setting up integrations affects the whole firm, so these settings are available only to firm owners and, sometimes, admins. See the list below to get an idea of which integrations you might need:

  • Payment providers: TaxDome lets your clients securely pay you online without leaving the portal. For this, you need to connect your portal to Stripe or CPACharge.
  • QuickBooks Online: You might want to set up this integration if you will invoice your clients only or mainly in TaxDome. The QuickBooks Online integration mainly works one way: your invoices and payments are sent to QuickBooks Online, not backward.
  • SMS: This integration will allow you to send updates and requests to your clients via SMS.
  • IRS: TaxDome allows you to set up a direct integration with the IRS Transcripts Delivery System (TDS) to securely access client tax returns and account information in a few clicks.

Manage your TaxDome subscription

As an owner, you are responsible for all the major expenses, so you will be the one setting up the TaxDome subscription for the whole firm:

Invite your team

Once you are ready, you can invite your team members and adjust their access rights to ensure they can access every TaxDome feature they need:
