Work with bookkeeping transactions list

This article covers how to filter, sort, and manage your transaction list. To perform actions on an individual transaction, refer to the corresponding article .

To view transactions, go to the client’s account and open the Transactions tab.

Work with the list

The Transactions page lets you manage your transaction list by filtering, sorting, and customizing the table to find the transactions you need.

The page has three tabs:

  • Needs review: Transactions not yet marked as completed.
  • Reviewed: Transactions you’ve already marked as completed.
  • All: All transactions.

Use the options below to get the most out of your transaction list.

Filter transactions list

Using filters , you can quickly find uncategorized transactions, and then ask clients questions about specific transactions , review client responses, and categorize transactions.

To narrow down a list of transactions, click Filter in the top-left, and select the filters.

Save your filter combinations as presets for future use.

If nothing was found, you can clear all filters by clicking Reset filters.

Sort transactions list

Sort transactions by Vendor/Payee, Date, Type, Amount, Description, or Account. Click the up-down arrows next to the chosen column name to sort the list. The sorting option can also be applied after filtering transactions.

Customize columns

You can customize your transactions list in various ways: resize, enable, disable, and move columns to your liking.

  • Resize columns: Click and hold the divider between column names and resize it by moving your mouse.

  • Choose which columns to display: Click the gear icon at the top right of the table.

Here, you can select the columns you want to be displayed and change their order. In addition to the default ones, you can add Location and Class columns, or hide any that you don’t need. You can enable, disable, or move any columns you want. After clicking Apply, the table will be rebuilt with the new settings. Click Reset to restore all columns.

Column Description
Date When the transaction took place
Type Deposit, Expense, Check, or Credit card credit
Amount Sum of the transaction
Description Transaction memo from bank feed
Account Account associated with the transaction
Split Category associated with the transaction. If a transaction was split into multiple line items with different categories assigned to each, the Split column reflects these details
Communication with client Field for your questions about transactions . Statuses: image Ask client (no question asked yet), image Awaiting response (question asked, client hasn’t answered), image Answer received (client has answered), image Finished (conversation finished)
Attachments Documents your client has attached to the answer. The green label shows the number of attached files
Actions Mark the transaction as completed to move it from the Needs review tab to the Reviewed tab. The communication can be reopened at any time

Filter What it returns
By Date Transactions from a specific time frame. Set your own date range or choose a ready-made one: year-to-date, previous month, quarter, or year
By Account/Split Transactions associated with specific accounts or categories
By Communication status Transactions based on their communication progress (Not started, Waiting for an answer, Answered, or Resolved)
By Vendor/Payee Transactions from specific vendors or payees
