Set up access to bookkeeping transactions

To get started with bookkeeping transactions feature, you need to set it up first: connect to your clients’ QuickBooks Online and assign permissions to your employees. Here’s how.
Connect to the client’s QuickBooks Online
Note
Full access to Bookkeeping Hub with no client limits is available during early access. After this period, usage limits based on your pricing plan will apply.
To start work with Bookkeeping transactions, you need to integrate your client’s QuickBooks Online with their account in TaxDome. Your client must already have a company profile set up in QuickBooks Online.
To connect their account with QuickBooks Online:

Go to Transactions section of the client’s account.

Click Connect to QuickBooks.
- Log in to QuickBooks Online.

Only users with admin roles in QuickBooks Online can authorize the connection to TaxDome.- Select the company you want to connect with. You’ll see a list of all QuickBooks Online companies you have access to, then click Next.
Attention
Do not select your own firm’s QuickBooks Online account—choose the account that belongs to your client. Bookkeeping transactions feature is not related to the QuickBooks integration for billing .

Click Connect.
Once the connection is established, you will receive an Inbox+ notification and the client’s transactions will begin to synchronize. This may take some time. You will be able to access them in the Transactions section of the client’s account.
Note
You will need to repeat these steps for each client account.
Account sync statuses
You can see the sync status for all your accounts in one place, helping you monitor your QuickBooks Online integration at a glance. To do so, go to Clients > Accounts from the left menu bar. You will see sync statuses in the General ledger column. Hover your mouse over any status to see the tooltip:

Synced: QuickBooks Online is connected and syncing.

Connecting: Initial data sync with QuickBooks Online is in progress.

Sync interrupted: A temporary issue is preventing sync with QuickBooks Online.

Sync failed: Connection to QuickBooks Online is not working.

Disconnecting: QuickBooks Online is being disconnected. This can take up to several minutes.

Not synced: This account is not connected to QuickBooks Online.
You can filter accounts by General ledger sync status to check whether all clients are successfully connected. To do this:

Go to Clients > Accounts from the left menu bar.

Click Filter.

Select General ledger, apply the logical operator is or is not and select the status.
You can combine the General ledger filter with other filters and save them as presets for quick access later. Learn more about one-click filters in the dedicated article .
Set up employee access to transactions
To give your employees access rights to work with your clients’ transactions:

Go to Settings > Team & Plans in the left menu bar, open the Team members tab, click on three dots to the far right of the employee’s name, then click Edit.

Enable the Manage account transactions toggle.

By default, employees can view transactions for the assigned accounts only. If you want an employee to manage the transactions of all accounts, enable the View all accounts toggle.

Click Save.
Disconnect the client’s QuickBooks Online
You need to disconnect the client’s QuickBooks Online from Bookkeeping transactions for each client separately. To do so:

Navigate to the Info section of the client’s account and proceed to the Connection section.

Click Disconnect.
Warning
When the connection is terminated, all transaction data previously synced from QuickBooks Online will be deleted from TaxDome.
