Add services to proposals
With the Services feature, you can create itemized proposals and engagement letters that clearly outline what your clients will be charged for. Services in proposals could be used either as a price list or as a part of invoicing.
Add services to proposals
You can add services as line items to your proposals in the Services step, either when working on a template or preparing a proposal for a specific client . Services can be presented in two ways:
- As a single list of services for the proposal.
- As Tiered packages: multiple service packages that allow clients to choose different service levels.
If you add itemized services without creating invoices, the services appear as a price list for informational purposes. An invoice can be created later .
If you send a proposal along with an invoice, the line items become part of an invoice that is automatically issued when the proposal is signed. Learn more about setting up the services in proposals in the dedicated article .
Hide or show columns for services
You can configure the columns displayed in the services line items: hide or show them. Click Settings at the top right of the Line items section and manage the checkboxes in the following columns: Service date, Description, Tax, Rate and Qty. Note that these changes refer only to the current proposal or template.
To make the column preset apply to all proposals, not just a specific one, configure the desired ones in Settings > Billing.
Note
If fields (e.g., Description and Service date) in the line items are empty and you didn’t hide these columns, they will automatically be hidden from the proposal. There is a different logic for the Rates & Qty and Tax columns: you should hide them in Settings so they are not displayed in the proposal, even if the value is set to 0.Find proposals with specific services
You can quickly find proposals that contain specific services. Go to Billing >Proposals & ELs from the sidebar menu, click Filter, select the services next to the Services filter, and click Apply. Once the filter is applied, the list of invoices is narrowed.
Update rates and other service details in proposals and proposal templates
The way you update service details depends on whether you are editing a sent proposal or a proposal template:
-
For sent proposals, you need to edit a proposal you want to change.
-
For proposal templates:
- If you need to make changes only in one or some proposal templates using the service, you can edit the template.
- If you want to edit all the proposals using a service, you can edit the service and select the checkbox to update all the templates where it is used.
Find services linked to your prior contracts
Before rolling out Proposals & ELs, TaxDome offered you Contracts with functionality on linking services. All your previously created contracts are converted into proposals and all linked services are in place. You can see them as line items in the Services proposal step.
- If you created a contract previously and it was signed, both you and your client will see the linked services as line items.
- If you created a contract previously and it’s still pending, both you and your client will see the linked services as line items and you will be able to edit/remove/update them by editing a proposal .
