If you’re struggling to get your clients off the software you’re currently using for your practice and onto TaxDome, we’re here to help you expedite the process. Most accounting software platforms allow you to export client data to a CSV file, which can then be imported directly into TaxDome .
General export process
Most export processes follow a similar pattern:
Locate the export function in your software’s Settings, Tools, Reports, or Client management section.
Select which client fields to export (name, email, phone, address).
Choose CSV (.csv) as your export format.
Run the export and save the file to your computer.
Open the file in a spreadsheet program to verify the data exported correctly.

UltraTax CS

To export your client data from UltraTax CS:
Go to Utilities > Client Listing Reports, select the report you want to export (General Client Information, Client Contact, Client Family, etc.), then click Continue.
Select a sort criteria from the Sort field.
In the Select Clients for Report dialog box, use the Focus group to include or exclude clients.
In the Clients available to print pane, select the clients you want, then click Select. To remove a client, select it and click Remove.
Click Export, then specify a file name and location. Choose Excel 97-2003 Workbook as the file type.
Select Include column headings if needed, then click Save.
To import the data to TaxDome, you’ll need to open the file in Excel, and then save it as CSV file .
Go to the Clients tab and highlight the client(s) to export.
From the Client menu, choose Export > Export to File.
Choose folder (default: C:\LACERTE\YYTAX\IDATA\EXPORT) and file name (EXPORT by default).
Select Comma Delimited and optionally Print Summary File.
Expand the category under Available, select items to export, then double-click or use (>) to move them to Display.
Click OK to create the file.
Note
Detailed information, such as the name of payer for interest, dividends, or the description of property, date acquired and sold for dispositions, etc. aren’t available for export. Only the total interest, dividend, and capital gain are in the available export fields.
To export your client data from TaxAct to a CSV file:
Go to
Client Manager, select the Export Client(s) from the File menu, then select TaxDome Export.
You will also have the ability to select individual clients you would like to export or click on the
Select All button to export them all. After selecting the clients you would like to export, click OK.
Save your CSV file.
QuickBooks Online and Desktop

You can export customer data either from the Customers page or from the Reports page
Export customer data from the Customers page
If you export from the
Customers page, you’ll be able to export data from the Name, Company, Address, Phone Number,Email Address, Customer Type, Attachment, Currency, Balance, and Notes columns.
From the left menu, select
Sales, then Customers.
Click the
Export to Excel button on the right. The XLS file will be downloaded to your computer.
To import the data to TaxDome, you’ll need to open the file in Excel, and then save it as CSV file .
Export customer data from the Reports page
If you export from the
Reports page, you can customize the client data you want to export, so it is a more precise and detailed approach.
From the left menu, select
Reports > Standard reports.
Select
Customer Contact List from the dropdown. If you want to make changes to the default report, click Customize.
Select the
Export icon above right of the Customer contact list, then choose Export as CSV.
TaxSlayer Pro

To export client list from TaxSlayer Pro to a CSV file:
In the client list view, click Export.
Select the fields you want to include, or click Check All to include all, then click OK.
In the Windows File Explorer window, verify or change the save location and file name (default is ClientReports), then click Save.
To export client data from ShareFile to a CSV file:
Go to
Settings, then to Admin Settings.
Select the
Reporting section under Account and Reporting.
Click the
Create Report button, select Users, click Next.
Select Client under User Type, then select CSV under Generate. Click Create.
Once your new report is ready click on its name in the list to download it.
Xero

To export your client data from Xero to a CSV file:
In the
Contacts menu, select the group of contacts you want to export. For example, to export contacts you’ve created sales invoices and sales credit notes for, click Customers.
Click three-dot menu on the right and select Export. Your contacts will then download as a CSV file on your computer.
TaxCalc

To export client data from TaxCalc to a CSV file:
Go to the
Practice manager, in the Report manager click New Report.
In the new Create new report window, select Client from the What type of report do you want to create? dropdown and click Select. Click Continue.
Add a report name and description. Click Continue.
On the next screen, click Client information in the left column and Add to add columns to the report. Click Continue.
Click Finish and Save. Click Yes to run the report now.
Click Export report in the top right corner and select Comma Separated Values (.csv). Choose a location to save it to.
OfficeTools

To export your client data from Office Tools to a CSV file:
Log in to
Practice Management, go to Contacts, select Import/Export Contacts, and then Excel Importer. Click Export.
Select the checkboxes next to the fields you want to include in the file. You can filter your contact info to be exported by
Contact Type and Entity Type. At the top of the window, enter where you want to save the exported file in the Save Path field, select CSV for the file type, then click Export.
SmartVault

To export client data from SmartVault to a CSV file:
Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
In the left sidebar, select Client Management.
Click the three-dot menu next to Add Client, then choose Export to CSV.
Close the alert message that appears.
When the export is ready, you’ll receive an email with a link to download the file.
To export your client list from TaxWise Online to a CSV file:
Log in as admin and open the Tax Returns tab (current or prior year).
Click the gear icon to open Return List Options, then select Customize Columns.
Drag and drop columns to add, remove, or reorder them. Recommended for export: First Name, Last Name, TIN, Evening Phone, Email Address, Address, City, State, Zip.
Close the customization menus once your list is set.
Ensure the Return List reflects the desired view, then open View More Actions and select Export Return List.
Choose CSV. The file download will start automatically.
To export your client list from Google Contacts to a CSV file:
Go to Gmail, click on the
Google apps icon in the upper right-hand corner, then click Contacts.
In Google Contacts, click the Export icon in the top right corner.
Select Google CSV, and click Export. The contacts are then exported as a CSV file onto your desktop.
Senta

To export client data from Senta to a CSV file:
Open the Client List and filter or select the clients you want to export.
Click Actions and choose Export. Select whether to export visible columns or all client data. A CSV file will then be saved to your default download location.
