PDF Editor, Explained

attention

Attention! Files that have the 'Signed' or 'Pending Signature X/Y' status cannot be edited by the PDF editor, they can only be viewed.

To work on a PDF in our built-in editor, you don’t need to download software. First, make sure the document is uploaded to TaxDome. If it isn’t, upload it from your device to the client’s account. Next, locate it inside the account, then click on its name to open it. The editing tools are at the top.

Things to remember:

  • Your changes are not saved until you click Save.
  • Once you make any changes to the document and click Save, the previous version is replaced by the new one.
  • You and your team members can delete any annotation or element added with the PDF editor. Your clients can delete your highlights or add their own to documents located in the top-level folders with Client can view and edit access level, but they can only view the annotations or elements added to files in the top-level folders with Client can view access level.
  • The document’s audit trail shows who has modified the document along with its new size.

Adjusting PDF Views

The tools on the left side of the toolbar help you change the magnification of a PDF and navigate it.

  • The hand tool allows you to drag a page to move it.
  • The magnifying-glass tools help you zoom in and out.
  • The fit-page-width tool lets you adjust the magnification so that the PDF fills the pane vertically or horizontally.
  • The thumbnail tool shows all the pages of a document in the left margin, allowing you to quickly scroll through them.

Revising Documents

To revise a document prepared by a team member, mark it up by double-clicking a word or selecting the text you want to draw attention to. Use one of the tools in the floating panel next: highlight, strikeout, underline, squiggle, or redact.
