Stage time limits (Beta)
Work in progress
Stage time limits are currently available for Beta users only.Stage time limits define the maximum number of days a job should spend in a pipeline stage before it’s flagged as overdue, so you can spot bottlenecks and act before delays compound.
Stage time limits at a glance
Stage time limits work at the pipeline level: you configure a day limit per stage, and TaxDome tracks how long each active job has been there. The status surfaces in two places — job cards in the kanban view show days remaining or days overdue, and dedicated columns in the jobs list let you sort and prioritize overdue work across all pipelines.
Set up stage time limits
You can set a time limit for each stage separately. To do so:
-
Go to Templates > Pipelines or Workflow > Pipelines from the left menu bar and open a pipeline.
-
On the Stages tab, select a stage and enter the maximum number of days a job should spend in it in the Stage time limit field. Repeat for each stage.
- On the Settings tab, turn on the Stage time limit toggle, so that it is displayed on the job card in the kanban view. You can also turn on Days in stage, so that it is clearly visible for how long the job has been in a stage.
- Click Save.
Note
Stage time limits can be configured by a firm owner, firm admin, or a team member with the Manage pipelines access right .How limits are calculated
- Overdue status is calculated in calendar days using your firm’s timezone . A job is not considered overdue on the final day of the limit — it becomes overdue at midnight (00:00) the following day.
- If you update the limit after jobs are already in the stage, the overdue count recalculates automatically.
- If a job is moved to a custom status and then returned to active, the time-in-stage counter resets from that point.
View stage time limit status
All firm members with access to a pipeline can see stage time limit status:
In the kanban view
Each job card in a stage with a time limit shows either the number of days remaining or the number of days overdue. Stage column headers show the overall limit status across all jobs in that stage. You can sort jobs within a stage to bring the most overdue to the top.
Info
Stage time limit status is shown only for active jobs. Jobs with custom statuses, completed, or archived display no status indicator. In the jobs list
The Stage time limit and Time in stage columns are available in the jobs list table. Click either column header to sort jobs by that value. Toggle between ascending and descending order to surface the most overdue jobs first. When jobs have the same number of overdue or remaining days, those with a smaller stage limit value are ranked higher — they have less buffer and need attention sooner.
