Bulk import checklists via CSV/Excel (Beta)
Work in progress
The functionality is being developed and currently available for Beta users. Docs on using the feature are being prepared.
Note
This article applies to firms in the US.Bulk import turns each row of a spreadsheet into a checklist item and creates a draft document checklist for every matched account, instead of opening each account individually. Rows without a matching account are skipped—you can review them at the File check step or after the import.
Step 1: Upload your file
To start a bulk import:
-
Open any client account, go to Organizers and checklists > Checklists, click New checklist, then click Upload spreadsheet at the top of the panel.
-
Choose the Category, Period type (yearly, quarterly, monthly or one-time), and the year, quarter or month that applies to every checklist in the import.
-
Add a CSV, XLS or XLSX file (up to 10 MB). A sample table shows the expected columns—Account name is the only required one; click Download CSV sample to get a template.
Step 2: Map columns
Match your file’s columns to TaxDome’s Name, Account name, Doc type and Description fields—TaxDome pre-fills the ones it recognizes. Set Name to auto-generate from the category and period instead of mapping it to a column.
Note
Document types are matched against TaxDome’s supported list. Anything not on the list imports as Other.Step 3: Review the file check
TaxDome scans every row and sorts it into Clean rows (matched, with a description), No description (a recognized document type with no description), Import as Other (an unrecognized type), or Won’t import (skipped, not found, or too long). If everything can be imported, click Continue. If some rows won’t import, fix your file and re-upload, or click Continue anyway to skip them.
Step 4: Preview and import
Review how many checklists will be New (created as drafts), Filled (existing empty checklists filled from your file), or Not changed (already have items, left as is), then click Import [N] checklists.
What happens next
You get a summary of checklists created and filled, and how many accounts were updated, plus an Inbox+ notification (Beta) with the same results. Click Download results to export it, or Import another file to run another batch.
